Share the beauty, share the love!

Do Something Special!

Long before I started doing glass and making jewelry, I was a writer. I still am.

And I do love a story, writing them, reading them, hearing them. One of the great things about selling art glass jewelry is meeting the wonderful people who are interested in my work and buy it as a gift for someone special.  At Christmas, a granddaughter bought a butterfly pendant for her grandmother, whose nickname is “Butterfly”. Often a boyfriend buys something his girlfriend picks out, or a husband tells his wife, “Go ahead – treat yourself”, or a mother buys for her daughter, or a friend for another friend. I enjoy seeing the faces light up, the buyer’s joy at finding something “just right” for someone special to them.

On Feb. 5 & 6, 11 to 3, I will be having a “Valentines’s Day Love Story” sale of my art glass jewelry at My Just Desserts, 31. E. Broadway, Alton, Illinois, a lovely place to have a delicious lunch, see the river from the windows, stop on your way to eagle-watch, and have a slice of homemade pie, truly the “Best Pie on the River Road!” http://myjustdesserts.org/

I hope you stop by and take a look at my handmade, locally crafted dichroic glass jewelry. Maybe you will find something special for someone you love, or for yourself. If you do, I hope you’ll share your story with me – because I do love a story!

And while you are there, you might want to order a Red Velvet Cheesecake for Valentine’s Day (pictured above).  It’s sure to be a big hit! (I bought the My Just Desserts Red Velvet Cup Cakes last year – you won’t be sorry!)

Win Jewelry – Help Animals!

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, you get 20% off this Sat. & Sun. only, at my last jewelry sale this year, at My Just Desserts, 31 Broadway, Alton IL, 11-2 pm.

Be sure to enter my silent auction for a necklace and earrings set – all proceeds will go to a local animal shelter to help dog and cats in need.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

For me, glass is all about transformation.  You take simple sand, heat it up, and it becomes glass, which can either be liquid or solid, clear or opaque, rough or smooth, cold or hot.  Glass is stronger after it has been fired in the kiln. Dichroic glass both transmits and reflects color.  Sometimes it changes colors after it has been heated: I’ve put in bright orange glass, and when it cooled off, it was neon green. When I open the kiln to see how everything “cooked”, usually, it’s like Christmas morning, full of happy surprises! But if I don’t like the way a piece turned out, I just recycle it and try again. Glass gives you second chances…
